MAC 022: AFRICAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (2 UNITS) This course traces the major trends in the development of the mass media in Nigeria as well as the contribution of the mass media to the nation’s development from colonial times to the present. MAC 021: HISTORY OF NIGERIA MASS MEDIA (2 UNITS) In Writing for the Mass Media II, students are further encouraged to write sample news, feature stories, newspaper editorials and radio news commentaries – since the diploma programme is also generally designed to improve the skills of practicing media personnel who are admitted for the two-year diploma course (Diploma in Mass Communication). At least, not less than two written exercises/assignments are given for proper development of writing skills. In Writing for the Mass Media I, emphasis is placed on proficiency in grammar – writing of simple short sentences, punctuation etc. Different types of media writing, in addition to news (feature, editorial, critical review etc) and modalities for effectively packaging them for the different mass media. With emphasis on development of the journalistic style, knowledge of and proficiency in grammar and the use of language for Mass Communication purposes. MAC 011: INTRODUCTION TO REPORTING AND NEWS WRITING (3 UNITS)Įxamination of various definitions of news: definitions of news elements and evaluations of news in Nigerian and foreign media. The content also includes an overview of the elements and processes of communication and a survey of mass media and mass media audiences. Diploma 6 mac plus#
The normal collection fee is 17 percent plus attorney and/or court costs. The Board of Regents has authorized the university to charge a student's delinquent account for all collection costs incurred by the university. Notwithstanding any other provision of this or any other university publication, the university reserves the right to make changes in tuition, fees and other charges at any time such changes are deemed necessary by the university and the USM Board of Regents. They may be changed, or other charges may be included, as a result of the Board of Regents decisions. Tuition rates are subject to the approval of the University System of Maryland Board of Regents.
All students are required to pay tuition for all courses in which they are enrolled.
